A big welcome to our summer coach, Dave Matthews. Here’s a little bit of info about him, be sure to welcome him to CFHY when you see him!

“I grew up in Binghamton, NY where my love for fitness began to grow. When I was young I wanted to play every sport there was, I eventually found my stride in a few sports and chose to continue playing Football, Basketball and Baseball throughout my time in High School. I graduated High School in 2015 and chose to attend Syracuse University to study Health and Exercise Science B.S. I am now a rising senior and my passion for fitness has only grown throughout my time studying it.

I hold a Division 1 Football Strength and Conditioning position with the Syracuse University coaching staff and have accumulated a great deal of knowledge and experience working with high level athletes. During this time, I realized I wanted to coach athletes in some way. Then I found CrossFit! I started CrossFit as an athlete while Studying Abroad for 6 months in Sydney, Australia. I came back to the U.S. and attained my CrossFit Level 1 Trainer Certification in early 2018 and have not looked back since. I seek to have a positive impact on the people that I coach or train with and I hope to learn from as many people as possible and take things from each of those people to become a better coach, athlete and most importantly, a better person.”
