CFHY Athlete of the Month September: Amanda Lindquist

The CrossFit Hyannis Athlete of the Month for September is Amanda Lindquist! Amanda always brings a positive attitude and her adorable dog Ellie to the gym – and the combination of both of those things always brightens up CFHY and makes class just a little bit better.  Amanda works hard, pushes herself during strength and workouts, and is on quest to continue bettering herself each day.  She works hard all day, and then comes to the gym and still manages to put forth an amazing effort every day.  She understands the importance of hard work and consistency, and due to that she continues to makes amazing progress and is just scraping the surface of her potential.  She is one of many strong, confident women at CrossFit Hyannis and we are lucky to have her- keep it up Amanda!!!

CFHY Athlete of the Month August 2020: Kevin Eloy!

The CrossFit Hyannis Athlete of the Month for August 2020 is Kevin Eloy!  Kevin is an absolute beast.  There’s really just no other way to say it.  He shows up CONSISTENTLY, always with a positive attitude and ready to throw down.  He works hard, smiles through it all, and has embraced the most important part of leveling up- SHOWING UP.  Since being a member at CrossFit Hyannis Kevin has made leaps and bounds in his strength and overall fitness and he’s just scraping the surface of his potential. Kevin understands, and embraces, the reality that there is a compounding effect to fitness (and many things in life!).  The work you put in every day adds up and builds into something greater than you could have imagined- but it’s on you to show up and do all of those little things daily.  Keep up the great work Kevin, we’re lucky to have you at CFHY!

CFHY Athlete of the Month July 2020: Linny Clancy

The CrossFit Hyannis Athlete of the Month for July 2020 is Linny Clancy!  Linny started at CrossFit Hyannis years ago in our kids program and came into the gym with her track team.  Her athletic background as a gymnast and track athlete have served her very well in CrossFit- she picks skills up quickly, has great body awareness, is incredibly strong, works hard, knows how to suffer, and is very coachable- perhaps the perfect combination for success in the sport of CrossFit.  Linny always has a smile on her face and comes in ready to put her head down and work.  Linny also not only handles coaching and feedback well, she seeks it out- knowing that the only way to get better is to identify weaknesses and put in the work to get better at them.  Linny has come a long way since her days in the kids program, and the future is limitless for her!

Looking for the workout?

It can be found on Instagram at @cape_fit and is posted the evening before.

CrossFit Hyannis members can also find it on Wodify- it is posted the evening before at 7:45pm.

CFHY Members also have access to additional accessory work via their Wodify accounts which is posted on Sunday for the following week- so if you’re looking for it during the week use the calendar to go back to the Sunday WOD then click on the program you are looking for, and get to work.  You can check out this video to show you how to access the accessory work:  How To Access Additional Programming on Wodify).

You will find one additional accessory workout in each of the following categories:

  • CapeFit Go To Endurance
  • CapeFit Pump Sesh
  • CapeFit Skill Work/Practice
  • CapeFit Oly
  • CapeFit Core
  • CapeFit Open Gym- This is a bonus workout for the week. Again, not mandatory, but in response to the many times we get asked during open gym “what should I do?”  This workout will often also include higher skilled gymnastics that we typically do less frequently throughout the week (HSW, muscle ups, etc.).  You don’t have to do this when you come to open gym, it’s just available if you’d like to do it.

We are proudly CrossFit Hyannis the gym- established in 2011 and serving our local community and visitors from around the world since then.  We pride ourselves on having a friendly and welcoming environment, professional coaches, an amazing community, a great facility and equipment, and well thought out, effective programming.

CapeFit programming is a way of helping us to spread what we do within the walls of our gym to more people, and over time we will continue to develop more programs to help people from around the world to get stronger, fitter, healthier and have fun while doing it.

If you’ve been following CrossFit Hyannis programming for awhile- you’ll see it’s what we’ve always done (and always striving to be better).   We’ve just give it a specific name to claim it as our own and share it with more people.

Since Day 1 we’ve programmed every day for CrossFit Hyannis- that’s eight and a half years/442 weeks- so somewhere over 2,210 days of programming… That’s a lot of workouts.  So although CapeFit was established in 2020- we’ve really been doing this a long time.

We use the CrossFit methodology along with a background in traditional strength and conditioning as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, a never-ending learning and research of best practices, and years spending every day at the gym coaching our members and refining what works best.  We love programming and spend hours each week making sure it’s just right, effective, and fun.  We have always programmed CrossFit Hyannis, and now CapeFit, to focus on GPP (general physical preparedness)- essentially we want our members and people following our programming to be stronger, fitter, healthier, and more confident.

We have big plans going forward on spreading CapeFit programming beyond our walls at CFHY and offering more speciality programs for both our members and people who can’t get to CFHY.  We’re really excited about this as it’s a great opportunity to share what we do with more people- and honestly it’s long overdue.

We’re excited to keep spreading and building upon what we’re passionate about and grateful you’re part of the journey.

So follow us at @cape_fit on Instagram and check out www.capefit.com and get to work!

Hey CFHY Members!

A fun announcement- going forward we will be doing CapeFit programming at CrossFit Hyannis.  What is CapeFit programming?  It’s what we’ve always done, but we’re giving it a specific name to claim it as our own and share it with more people.

Since Day 1 I have programmed every day for CrossFit Hyannis- that’s eight and a half years/442 weeks- so somewhere over 2,210 days of programming… That’s a lot of workouts. I use the CrossFit methodology along with my background in traditional strength and conditioning as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, my never-ending learning and research of best practices, and years spending every day at the gym coaching our members and refining what works best.  I love programming and spend hours each week making sure it’s just right, effective, and fun.  I have always programmed CFHY to focus on GPP (general physical preparedness)- essentially we want our members to be stronger, fitter, healthier, and more confident and the aim of our programming is to accomplish those things.

How does this change things for you?  We are CrossFit Hyannis powered by CapeFit programming.  The biggest difference- instead of  the CFHY Instagram the daily workout will be posted for now on Instagram at @cape_fit (so be sure to follow @cape_fit for workouts, etc.)

We have big plans going forward on spreading CapeFit programming beyond our walls at CFHY and offering more speciality programs for both our members and people who can’t get to CFHY.  I’m really, really excited about this as it’s a great opportunity to share what we do with more people- and honestly it’s long overdue.  But again, for now the biggest change for you is the WOD will be posted on Instagram at @cape_fit

We’re excited to keep spreading and building upon what we’re passionate about and grateful you’re part of the journey.

Peace and Gratitude,

Katie Falkowski… I mean Ward
