CFHY December Athlete of the Month: Michelle Groff

The CrossFit Hyannis Athlete of the Month for December is Michelle Groff.  Michelle displays perseverance, dedication, and commitment in all that she does- in her career, at the gym, in her relationships, and in all aspects of her life.   She is a regular at the 5:30pm class, and has consistently been improving since she began at CrossFit Hyannis.  As a former college swimmer, Michelle understands the dedication that is required to succeed and consistently improve in athletic performance- and she continues to push herself and put in the extra work in order to better herself.  She gets to the gym early to mobilize, isn’t afraid to push herself in the workout, and often stays after class to work on her weaknesses.

Another quality Michelle possesses that makes her such a success is that she isn’t afraid to take chances, go out of her comfort zone and say “yes.”  Whether it be competing in the Open, The Camp Games, or any sort of challenge Michelle is willing to take a chance and put herself out there.  The older we get the easier it is to become complacent- with our jobs, our fitness, and our lives as a whole.  Oftentimes people stop striving for the better, settling in to a routine and a life in which we only try to maintain the status quo.  Michelle has chosen to live a life in which she continually seeks to be better, even if that means challenging herself and taking chances.  In her quest to better herself, she inspires those around her to be better as well.  She is someone you want to have in your corner.

Michelle is a woman who understands the value of hard work, community, and the notion that small efforts consistently made lead to great changes and ultimately a life of success and contentment.  We are lucky to have Michelle as part of the CrossFit Hyannis community, and I look forward to seeing her continued voyage beyond the status quo.
