CFHY July Athlete of the Month: Jason Parrent!

The CrossFit Hyannis Athlete of the Month for July is Jason Parrent!  Jason is a beast.  There is simply no other way to describe him.   But for the purposes of this write up I’ll elaborate.

Jason has been a dedicated member for some time, but recently he has upped his game.  Everyone is busy- but it’s clear that Jason has prioritized his health and getting to the gym.  He can be found at any of the classes from 5:30am to 6:30pm- he makes the effort to get to the gym no matter the time and doesn’t let a hectic schedule, working off Cape, and being a family man stop him.

Jason came to us as a superb runner, and chances are that if you’ve ever done a running workout with him you have probably cursed him out as he ran past you (perhaps even lapping you, let’s be honest).  The worst part about this is that he makes it look so effortless.  Jason- keep it up.

What’s perhaps more impressive than his natural knack for running, is the extreme effort and perseverance that he puts into building strength and honing skill based movements.  You could describe Jason as “sneaky strong.”  All the sudden you turn around and he’s lifting all the weights at the weight buffet.  Bro, leave us some.  Jason has also recently committed to learning handstand pushups.  His unique headfirst style onto the wall requires a certain level of commitment and insanity, two vital skills for success in CrossFit and in life.  Jason attacks workouts and keep moving the entire time.  You will not see Jason staring at a barbell or the pull up rig- he chips away at workouts one rep at a time.  This tenacity often leads to some of the best times of the day- stemming from sheer determination and his ability to keep moving even when it’s uncomfortable.

We’re lucky to have Jason as one of our members, and I’m excited to see his continued progress as he relentlessly tackles his weaknesses and crushes workouts!

Jason showing his boys how it’s done!
