October Athlete of the Month: Jim Coleman

The October Athlete of the Month is the one and only Jim Coleman.  Jim is a dedicated member of the CrossFit Hyannis community, attending classes daily and bringing his A-game consistently.  Jim trains each day with people half his age, but his effort and intensity are unrivaled.

Jim came to us as a fit and healthy individual, regularly riding his bike and competing in events such as the Pan Mass Challenge.  He still rides his bike often, and will nonchalantly mention his 40+ mile bike rides that he goes on while he’s not doing CrossFit.  Jim is a great role model to us and his family about how to live a healthy life by making fitness a priority that fits seamlessly and enjoyably into his life.

When doing strength work Jim always goes hard- and his numbers are certainly something he should be proud of.  As we have been testing our lifts recently his numbers have been impressive- perhaps most notable his 325 pound deadlift.  He knows when to push it and has the wisdom to know when to stop.  His performance on workouts is equally impressive.  Jim goes hard and always pushes those around him with his intensity.

The longer you do CrossFit, the more you realize that it’s so much more than just going to the gym and working out.  One of the beautiful things about CrossFit is that it brings all sorts of people together and allows friendships to form that perhaps wouldn’t have formed otherwise.  We’re lucky enough to have a diverse group of people at CrossFit Hyannis- each coming to us with their own unique background and life story.  Jim adds so much to our community, and I think it’s safe to say that we all appreciate what he brings to the gym and are inspired by his example.
