Open WOD 12.1 and Goats

LET THE GAMES BEGIN

As some of you may have heard, the CrossFit Open season has begun.  This is the first step on the road to the CrossFit Games in which the Fittest Man and Woman on the Planet are crowned… and it’s kind of an obsession for many people within the CrossFit community.  The Open, however, is about more than just finding out who is the fittest.  It’s also a really amazing way to be part of the global CrossFit community and participate in something bigger than yourself.  I hope that over the last two months at CrossFit Hyannis you have begun to understand the importance of the community aspect of CrossFit; some would argue that it’s what makes CrossFit so amazing and what sets it apart from other fitness programs.  This community goes beyond just the inspiring people that we have training at CrossFit Hyannis- it goes to all CrossFitters around the world.  Participating in the CrossFit Open is a way to embrace the community, see how you fare against other CrossFitters from around the world, and just have some fun.   The CrossFit Open is five weeks, and a new workout will be posted every Wednesday at 8:00pm on the CF Games site.  We will be doing these workouts at CrossFit Hyannis every Friday for the next five weeks.  Of course we will scale them as needed, so don’t worry.  As of right now over 55,000 people are signed up for the CrossFit Open.  I can’t help but think about how cool it is to think that we will be participating/competing in the same workouts as that many people in the weeks to come.  Whether you choose to register for the CrossFit Open or not, I hope you take a few minutes to check out the CrossFit Games site and see what it’s all about.   And remember, you don’t need to be the Fittest on Earth to participate in the fun… it’s only $20 to register.

For those of you who have officially registered for the CrossFit Open please see Katie about having your workout judged.  You must do each CrossFit Open WOD with an individual judge to make sure you maintain the standards, are counting correctly, etc.  In order for your score to be validated and count towards the Open you must have an individual judge- your workout will not be scored if you do not have an individual judge.

Part 1:

CrossFit Open WOD 12.1

Complete as many reps as possible in 7 minutes of burpees.  (For official standards for the Open please view video at the CF Games site).

 

Part 2:

Goat WOD

In the CrossFit community we call movements that give us trouble or we view as weaknesses “goats.”  For this WOD you will pick two to three of your “goats” and put them into a 12 minute AMRAP.  Working on weaknesses is one of the quickest ways to improve, and there’s nothing more gratifying than finding success in things that challenge you.
